Al's long involvement with the Music Business in Western Canada began in Regina, Saskatchewan, where he played with the Regina Symphony, Assistant Conductor with the Regina City Police Boy's Band, and the Regina Wind Ensemble.
Al has been a member of Calgary's music scene since opening a branch of Arcade Music Centre here in 1966. In the 1970's Al was Musical Director of CBC television show "On Stage"
He toured Japan with Frank Mills Orchestra under Eric Friedenberg..He performed with the 1988 Olympic Orchestra under Tommy Banks, and toured Hungary, Austria, Germany with the New Orleans Connection.
Al has also performed in many orchestras backing such touring celebrities as Manhattan Transfer, Dizzy Gillespie, Pattie Page, Red Skelton, Paul Anka and Cleo Laine, to name a few.
Al ran the Youth Talent Show at the Calgary Stampede for 30 some years.
He still remains fairly active.
