Brian has been freelancing in Calgary since high school. He graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Bio Sciences. While at U of C, he performed with Dr. Ward Cole’s Saturday Morning Jazz Lab Band. Along the way, Brian has had the pleasure of private study with Bob Stroup, Ian McDougall, Bill Watrous, Alistair Kay, Bobby Shew, and Bob McChesney.

He has played with the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Band, Ice Capades, productions of South Pacific, A Chorus Line, and Tom Foolery. He was a charter member of Eric Friedenberg’s Saturday Pro Band, The Calgary Jazz Orchestra and Prime Time Big Band. He has appeared with Harry Connick Jr., Red Skelton, Hal Linden, Diana Krall, Dizzy Gillespie, Joan Rivers, Lou Rawls, Holly Cole, Rosemary Clooney, P.J. Perry, Cheryl Fischer, Pepper Adams, Mart Kenney, k.d.Lang, The Platters, Coasters and Drifters. He is an active clinician and currently performs with all manner of groups playing everything from weddings to combo gigs.
