Jon’s passion for the trumpet began at age eight when he joined the Regina Lions Junior Band. His early involvement with the Lions Band and experiences throughout high school fostered a deep love for jazz music. To further pursue this passion, he studied jazz trumpet at McGill University, where he had the privilege of studying extensively with Kevin Dean and Joe Sullivan. During his four years at McGill, Jon performed regularly with the McGill Jazz Orchestra, appearing as the featured band on stages across Canada, USA and Mexico, and contributing to the recording of three albums. Today, Jon balances his musical pursuits with a successful career as a pension actuary, while also enjoying his personal interests in cooking and craft brewing.
